A competitive intelligence replacement
We didn't renew our competitive intel vendor this year because I built the replacement in about two weeks.

I posted a while back about using managed agents for competitive intelligence, and then never came back to say where things landed, so here's the follow up.
I've got 50+ agents watching our competitive landscape for new product launches, key hires, pricing changes, and anything else worth knowing, and they post into a #competition Slack channel every morning.
I took what the agents find every day and combined it with the data we already had sitting around in sales calls, our CRM, win/loss records, etc., and built an MCP that you can just ask about our competition (we ended up naming it Comet).
So now if a rep needs a battlecard, wants to prep for a call, or wants to know why we win against a particular competitor, they can get an answer in under a minute.
The one thing I'd tell anyone building something like this is to do the citations from day one. Everything Comet says links back to where it came from, so if it came from a call it cites the call and if it came from a news article it cites the article (pretty similar to how NotebookLM does it). I think that's most of why people actually trust it.
The whole thing costs less than $100 a month to run, and that's all in (API calls, managed agent fees, and the few paid services I needed to make it work).
If you're weighing build vs buy on competitive intel, I'm happy to talk you through what I built. Just send me a message.
